Day Routing
01 Montevideo

Arrival to Montevideo and hotel transfer. Explore the coastal city and discover charming corners, street markets and friendly people. Short city tour and lunch at the famous Mercado del Puerto.

02 Montevideo - Rocha

Drive to Rocha and enter the most beautiful province of Uruguay with pristine beaches, emerald shores and a great network of lagoons. Visit Chuy, a curious town straddling the border with Brazil. After lunch meet the   gauchos and horses to ride around the rolling hills of San Miguel and enjoy wonderful panoramic views from the top of Cerro Picudo. OV at Fortín de San Miguel.

03 Barra de Chuy Beach

Today have a nice 3-4 hours ride towards the coast. After a picnic lunch, have a pleasant siesta while   discovering that gauchos’ saddles are as comfortable for riding as for sleeping. In the afternoon enjoy a fast-pace ride along the wonderful, isolated ocean beach of Barra Chuy. Ride across the white sands alongside the Atlantic Ocean until arriving to La Coronilla. Overnight at a small beachside hotel.

04 Santa Teresa National Park

Ride south passing by beaches, sand dunes, pine   forests and coastal hills, where you might see dolphins feeding. At Santa Teresa National Park visit the old fortress and enjoy a picnic lunch. Enjoy a ride along the forest trails and down to the beach. Continue to the lovely town of Punta del Diablo and transfer to Estancia El Sauce, for dinner and overnight.

05 Estancia El Sauce

Wake up at El Sauce, a working ranch run by its   owners. Enjoy a full day riding around the crops and the varied vegetation of the countryside around the Estancia. Taste the original “mate” sipped hot out of a dry gourd and watch out for otters, coypus, capybaras and pink flamingos, that inhabit the marshlands and streams of the area. Overnight at typical Estancia.

06 Cabo Polonio

Meet your horses and ride into the desert! The shifting sand dunes of Cabo Polonio have been declared a  natural animal reserve and a Biosphere Natural     Reserve by UNESCO. The charming fishing village Cabo Polonio can only be reached by horse or four wheeled drive. After lunch at a typical restaurant on the beach, you will see one of the largest populations of seals in the world. Take a swim at one of the most beautiful beaches of the country. After this ride full of surprises and diverse scenery, OV at a lovely estancia.

07 Laguna de Castillo

The protected area around your Estancia has been     declared a Natural Animal Reserve in 1996. Visit the  forest of Ombúes and ride to the nearby palm groves.

08 Rocha - Montevideo

Spend another relaxing morning at your Estancia. After lunch return to the airport of Montevideo for your flight back home (or start your extension tour).
