Peru - Glamping along the Inca Trail

Arrival to Lima and hotel transfer. Remainder of the day at leisure in the “city of kings”. Optional city tour with visit to Larco Herrera Museum.

Flight to Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca Empire and South America’s archaeological heart. Walking tour with visits to the most important landmarks of both the Incan and the Colonial times.

Discover the surroundings of Cusco: the fortress-temple of Saqsaywaman, the shrines of Kenqo, the cleansing water rituals at Tambomachay and the Korikancha, Temple of the Sun. Afternoon at leisure to stroll around ancient Cusco.

Explore the Sacred Valley. Visit to Awanakancha, a life museum of Andean camels, such as Llamas and Alpacas. Discover the famous Pisac market and Inca fortress Ollantaytambo.

Today begins your Deluxe Inca Trail Adventure, the unique 43km trek leading to the Sacred Inca City of Machu Picchu. Transfer to Piskacuchu, starting point of the Inca Trail. Follow the trail to Miskay and the Inca city Llactapata and reach the community of Huayllabamba, where we set our first camp.

Arrival at the mountain pass Abra Warmihuanusca. Descend into the Pacaymayo valley while the landscape changes to cloud forest. The camp is set up after approximately 7h of hiking.

Climb to the second pass, Abra Runkurakay. Visit the circular ruin site of the same name and descend towards the Sayacmarca complex. The trek continues towards Phuyupatamarca ruins close to where the last camp is set up.

The last day of the trek leads to the Wiñaywayna ruins before heading towards Intipunku, the famous Sun Gate. With a clear sky, the sun rise over the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu can be watched before hiking down to Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of Machu Picchu.

Exploration of the lost city of the Incas during a guided visit of Machu Picchu! In the afternoon, return to Cusco by train and bus.

Return to Lima. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Transfer to the airport and homebound flight.
