Brazil- Wildlife Discoveries Option A

Arrival at the hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The rest of the day is at leisure. Explore the city of long golden beaches or just relax from the long flight.

In the morning flight via Cuiabá to Alta Floresta in the north of Mato Grosso, the largest and most intact rain forest region in the world. Transfer to Cristalino Jungle Lodge, located in a private reserve (program Seat-in basis).

Early wake up to observe the awakening of the forest in the 50m canopy tower. After breakfast boat excursion up and down the river for wildlife viewing. Lunch at the lodge. Opportunity to walk the „Rocky“ trail or participate in supervised ropes and rapel activities. Dinner by campfire and night caiman spotting.

Before breakfast the day will start with a  walk on the Caja Trail. After breakfast guests can walk the Caja Trail with time to swim. Lunch will be served at the lodge. In the afternoon take part of a motor boat excursion and hike the Serra Trail while watching the sunset. Candlelight dinner by the camp fire.

Today flora & fauna observation will be the main attraction. Several flagship species of Brazilian fauna and flora can be found in this region, like Brazilian tapir, giant otter or brazil-nut tree. Dinner at the lodge.

Flight to Cuiabá and transfer to the Araras lodge (program Seat-in basis). On the way, observation of birds, small mammals and typical landscapes. The lodge is located within one of the most beautiful regions of the Pantanal. The sound of the birds at dawn, breath-taking sunsets, giant otters playing by the river and alligators enjoying the sun will create a unique atmosphere.

During their stay, guests observe a big variety of birds, animals and reptiles. Activities include nature hikes, horseback riding, night walks, canoeing, and photo safaris, with chances to discover giant otters, caimans and water pigs.

Sunrise walking tour, followed by breakfast. Transfer from Araras lodge to the Baiazinha Lodge (program Seat-in basis). In the late afternoon river safari for jaguar spotting.

During their stay at Baiazinha Lodge, guests join daily river safaris to spot Pumas, Ocelots and Jaguars at the channels of the Paraguay river.  

Regular transfer to Cuiabá airport for return flight to Rio de Janeiro. Transfer to the hotel.

On the full day excursion guests will take the two-stage cable car up to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain for amazing views of the city. Afterwards they will visit the Corcovado mountain with the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer with a breath-taking view over Rio.

Transfer to the airport for international departure flight or individual extension.
